N400: "good moral character?": ex-wife?

Folks, please give a hint about the "good moral character" of this case, if INS can screw it.

The guy had a B1/B2 visitor visa 10 years ago and came to the US for 2 weeks. During this 2 weeks he married a US citizen. They never lived together and no application was made based on that marriage. Also he divorced her the next year.

Then, 5 years later he immigrated to the US, employment based, got a green card by his employer, and now trying to apply for citizenship.

Since he must declare that marriage on the N400, the IO may think he lied to immigration when he entered the US for that marriage. What is the chance that the IO will come to this conclusion, considering that there was no immigration application based on that marriage?

You have seen lots of stories, please help me guess. Thanks a lot for your advice.

So did you overstay your visitor visa? If not, I see no solid basis for USCIS to give you any trouble. After all, you say there was no I-130 filed on your behalf during the "marriage".

What about selective services registration? It would not have been required while you were legally still a non-immigrant, but if you were under 26 and overstayed, that could be a potential problem area.

Luckily, there was no overstaying of the visitor visa (although I have no idea how to prove arrivals and departures when they happened over a decade ago). As for the selective service: if I understand that the top cutoff age of it is 26 then it is irrelevant, because the first ever entry to the US occured years after that. Thanks for your positive prediction.

On its face, the case seems like it should be fine. However, if there are any unpaid alimony or child support payments, it could pose a problem.

But if what you're saying is the entire story and there are no other factors, the applicant should be fine.

doesn't that sound quite odd for a normal person? love at first sight is OK but then they didn't live together and prosummably he went back to his home country right after the marriage.

isn't that weird?
