I mailed separately N-400 application for myself and my spouse on 03/16/2005, the applications were received at BCIS-CSC on 03/23/2005. I received Notice of Action (I-797C) on 04/02/2005 with following info:
**********************************************************
Receipt with Exception
Case Type: N400 Application for Naturalization
Application Number: WSC*001xxxxxx
Received Date: March 23, 2003
Priority Date: March 23, 2003
Notice Date: March 29, 2005
Payment Information:
Single Application Fee: $310.00
Total Amount Received: $390.00
Total Balance Due: $0.00
Credit Amount: $80.00
The above application has been received by our office and is in process, but has been noted with one or more of the following exceptions(s):
Overpayment - payment was received to cover the fee for this application, and was more than the required amount. A refund check will be mailed separately within thirty (30) business days to you or the primary payee if this application was combined with other cases under a single payment.
**********************************************************
Somehow, they have entered wrong dates for Receipt Date and Priority Date and thats the reason why they are charging the old fee amount. I did talk to INS Officer this morning, and told him about this mistake at their end and that it had happened on both applications for my myself and my spouse. He acknowledged that there was a goof up at their end, but it should not affect our processing. He further said that I'll receive the refund check which I should return back with the copy of Notice Of Action. I asked him if he would send me the rectified Notice of Action, he said he cannot.
I'm worried that when our case comes for processing and whoever is handling our case notices that our receipt date is 03/23/2003, he/she might reject our applications based on the fact that we were ineligible to file for Naturalization as per the Receipt Date. We became permanent resident on 05/30/2000.
Sorry for the long post but your help/guidance will be really appreciated.
