Hello everyone. So here is the situation. I'm an immigrant who was always in a legal status in the us ( came on a student visa ) and after school was over met my wife we got married. I applied for the 485 got it easily and then after two years the 751 and got that. Now I just got into the 3 year naturalization range and wanted to apply for citezenship ( for no other reason then a lifelong dream to be an American citizen. Currently I am an ISRAELI citizen )
Anyway after reading several forums and articles I encountered something worrying. So I wanted to ask. Is the marriage based cittizenship different then the regular five year citezenship ? I read that it's considered conditional and still have to apply for removal of conditional status at the end of five years. But also I read very alarming stuff like they would require subjecting us to marriage counseling. Mental evaluation. Drug testing and another interview in the end of the five year period and at that point if we are not together. Or God forbid my wife passed away I could be denied and deported from the country even though I was a legal citizen always without any record and completely marriage of good faith with two kids. Is that an exaggeration or that is something that might happen ?
