N-400 at the Norfolk Sub-office

Applied for my Citizenship at the Norfolk sub-office.

Priority Date: 21st October 2004
Finger Printing: ??/??/????
Interview Date: ??/??/????
Oath: ??/??/????

I have been reading this forum and fail to understand as to why the Norfolk sub-office is taking 12+ months to process N400 applications. I have heard about the 6 month processing time frame goal for USCIS by 2006.

My friends in Baltimore got their N400 processed in 5 months. The best part is one has the option of getting sworn in the same day you get interviewed in Baltimore. Isn't that cool?

Will Norfolk ever improve their waiting periods? I am very anxious to know. Will 2005 change the processing times at Norfolk.

Has any applied at the Norfolk office during the same time line as mine. Anxious to know their progress vis-a-vis their dates are concerned.

I applied in July and my FP is scheduled for January thanks to my senator.

A lawyer handling a seperate immigration matter for my father mentioned that some of the delays at Norfolk sub-office is due to the fact that the Arlington DO was moving and they put a hold on new N-400 applications until the move was completed. The move, I believe, was completed around Thanksgiving. Hopefully things will move along a lot quicker now.
