Hello everyone,
I have read some of your response about N 600,but my situation is different,I'm a USA citizenship and son came to the country when it was 17,I did not know that he was automatically citizen so i waited 5yrs and applied for N 400,
it is been 2 yrs and no response for N 400,so I did my research and I was told to fill N 600 and apply for direct passport for my son,I did apply for passport trough the post office and I got.I also applied for N 600,since September and I never hear of them..it is 5 months now and no response,I forgot to mention,I have 2 children,One of them received the interview for N 600,however the other son did not...is that means there is conflict? should I close the N 400 application because I never called to close it,?

what is the the interview about, does it include,USA history because my children are over 25 now...please any info will be appreciated.
thanks

It is not clear from what you said.

If you are right and your son derived citizenship from you because they gave him a US passport then you can do a few things.
1. What is the status of the N-400, have you tried to call USCIS to check it out? I would say not to cancel anything until you know the outcome of the N600. You are not going to get the money back anyway.
2. N600 can take several months depending on which local office deals with it. It usually doesn't generate a lot of information for you to track. Check the USCIS processing time for the local office that handles your son's N600 every month and if the processing time has gone beyond your son's case and you don't hear anything from them call them up to see what's going on. However, it is quite normal not to have heard anything if you sent the application in September until now :(
3. N600 interview doesn't require studying anything. At most they will ask your son to read some sort of oath. I am not too clear on the oath.

well,N 400 is still pending.I was only afraid that could be a reason why the application got late, what is the maximum mouths the district office should not exceeds and must give me an answer, because I don't wanna just be waiting just like I did for N 400, 2 yrs and now going for 3 with the decision still pending due to background check which isc only to delay my process for my son ,I heard N 400,they can not exubce 400 otherwise you can file a lawsuit,I don't know why they make thing such hard, because I have 2 sons.same situation ,one is begin called faster and proceed in time and the other they hold his paper all the time...I have read that N 600 should be around 6 to 8 months, what should I do if they exuce the amount and is there a website where I can see the date procceting time

I can feel your anxiety and we all need to go through such depression for CIS's bureaucracy. Can you post the timelines of N400 and N600 to help the board members understand more about the situation.

Had you become a citizen at the time your son came US at age of 17?

Yes,everything is fine,I don't know the time,The only think I know I applied for both sons..on September..One got his letter last month and tomorrow his interview.the other did not receive nothing yet

You said you have 2 children ... were both of them under 18 when you became a citizen? Did both of them get a US passport? If the older one was too old to acquire citizenship automatically, he/she will need to complete the N-400 process.

I agree with Jackolantern. I thought about that and actually wrote a couple of lines about that and then decided to take you on your word that this son of yours got a US passport and has citizenship. You can check the processing time for the local office that deals with your N600 at www.uscis.gov. Let us know if you don't know which local office handles your N600. For example, if you live in Santa Clara CA your local office is San Jose. If you live in San Francisco CA, then your local office is San Francisco.

If both your children were under 18 at the time of arrival in to the USA with permanent residency, and you were a US Citizen at that time, then they have both derived citizenship through you. The fact that you waited 5 years after the oldest turned 18 is irrelevant.

Did both your children get US Passports? If so, then they are both citizens. I know the application time is different for everyone so you should not be concerned that one child got it while the other didn't. You should submit an InfoPass to find out about the pending application. Also, if your oldest child was under 18 when he came to the USA - as described above - then you cannot file an N-400 for him as he is already a US citizen.
