hi

My daughter and myself have been asked to come to INS [Arlington] at 8 PM. Does INS operate that late? I had applied for her Naturalization Certificate [N-600].

thanks

Read the notice carefully and call before going

> Our office is open to the public from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, weekdays (federal holidays excepted). In-person inquiries may be made at any time within those hours, except from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Our public telephone number is (703) 525-8141.

N600 - wrong time

INS said they meant 8:30 am and not PM. Do they interview the kid or do they just give the certificate to the child?

interview parents and child, normally

In order to issue the citizenship document for the child, the INS officer should interview the parents & child if old enough, verify the documents\' & application\'s information & accuracy as well as take signatures. It would be grossly irregular for the citizenship document to be given if the custodial parent(s) is/are not present at the interview. However, the officer may issue a request for additiional evidence if the submitted material is deemed insufficient. If lack of eligibility is demonstrated, they will not issue a certificate.

Does the child have to go for an oath later?

hi

from what I have read the Child and the parents need to go to INS for N600 interview/appointment. They check the records and give the certificate to the child the very same day

Or will they give ANOTHER date for the oath for the child?

all done same day if possible, child & US citizen parent must be in attendance

I need to find out if I need to be present with my daughters at n600 appointment given that they received the notices in their name only and my name was not mentioned at all in these notices to appear for citizenship certificate and oath. they are 15, 17 years. are they old enough to attend alone and what is the policy on this!

Once again, it will make sense for a parent to attend with their children. Unless you want to be viewed as a bad parent by USCIS, and they might call CPS on you. Just make an the necessary time and attend with your kids, I can't imagine send my teenage kids go and deal with a govt agency without me being there as their parent. Common...
