N-445 name misspelt - San jose DO

On my N-445 they misspelt my first name although they did get the last name and A# right.

Is this something I need fixed before I go for my oath ceremony on march 7th?

If so, would an infopass appointment fix it ?

What are the chances my naturalization certificate might have been screwed up too ?

At my interview (and my wife's), they showed me the spelling that they were going to use for my natz cert and asked me to verify it. Did they do that for you.

I certainly would be tempted to schedule an InfoPass to figure this out. Once you get the certificate in your hands, part of the really nice feeling you get comes from knowing that your are done dealing with the USCIS. It would be a shame to have to deal with them after the fact (and, without a green card or other immigration document, I expect it's even harder than normal).
 
Yes they did ask me to verify and it was correct. I am hearing that we get a chance to change the spelling at the oath ceremony itself.
 
I would highly suggest an Infopass to ensure that they have your name spelt correctly.

If I am not mistaken, your name will most likely be printed onto the Naturalization certificate and most likely they won't change it at the oath ceremony.
 
Insead, how did you get your oath date so soon? Just wondering because you finished your iview a few days back.
 
I asked the interview officer what the oath dates were and I picked the earliest. I told him I had to start traveling overseas and I would appreciate nailing down a date so I could buy tix. He said he would see if he could give me the oath letter right there but came back in a few minutes saying he had to mail it in. I got the oath letter in 3 days....he put a note on my file on a post-it saying "Please schedule for Mar 7th oath"
 
I wonder why the IO didn't tell you about the Feb 21st oath date since it's earlier than Mar 7th oath date. :confused:
 
You get an opportunity to check the spelling at registration during the oath ceremony. If there is a problem, the USCIS folks are able to correct it very quickly and reprint the certificate before you leave at the end of the event. Last June while waiting for interview at Baltimore, I watched 10-15 people get reprinted certificates.
 
Happigal, i asked for the 21st of Feb but he said it was full. Boatbod, thanks for the info on the correction at oath.

Just to close this thread out -

the naturalization certificate had my correct spelling on it. In case the spelling was wrong, they had setup a "resolution desk" to correct typos on the spot.

I did not take an Infopass in the end.
