N-400 Selective Service

I am new to this forum so please bear with me.

submitted N-400 w/out consulting a lawyer.

I casually read item G regarding selective service and answered NO thinking it meant someone with a green card between 18-26 age.

The question is deceptive.

This is my first time hearing about this.

To make long story short.... I haven't had any sleep in the last week trying to figure out what to do at this point and reading up on what is selective service.

Please advise how to correct this on N-400 form... as the correct answer should be a YES answer and I need to get selective service status letter .... affidavit etc.

i am over 30 yrs old now but lived in us out of status at some point betowen 18 and 26.

I am assuming you have already sent your application?

You are male, yes?

Honestly, I am not sure. But, I think the only thing to do now is to wait for a response from them. Yeah, that will be lying on your application if you entered "No" and you are indeed a male. If the person that is reviewing your case caught it, most likely they will send you some form of letter.(I think)

Please keep us posted.

Send a letter explaining this. You dont want to FALSIFY anything! Falsification can lead to denial of application.

Say the truth, and write a letter to them and also correct it during interview time as well.

First things first - get yourself a status letter from the SSA, then correct the mistake at interview.

FYI, you need to be over 31 before you can typically be forgiven for failing to register. (31 = 26yrs age cutoff + 5yr CIMT period)

G. Selective Service Registration.

33. Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?

If you answered "NO," go on to question 34.

If you answered "YES," provide the information below.

If you answered "YES," but you did not register with the Selective Service System and are still under 26 years of age, youmust register before you apply for naturalization, so that you can complete the information below:

Date Registered (mm/dd/yyyy)

Selective Service Number

If you answered "YES," but you did not register with the Selective Service and you are now 26 years old or older, attach astatement explaining why you did not register.

This is the exact question.
