N-400 San Jose versus San Francisco

I have heard that SFO is faster than San Jose in terms of N-400 processing time. I saw N-400 threads of San jose or San Francisco. From what I could observe, it seems to make a difference of 2-3 months for the entire process.

Can you confirm my observation please?

Thanks!

San Francisco has always been faster than San Jose. That's a fact. How much faster might change over time. I am not going to dispute your observation of two to three months, that's probably right.

PS: I would believe that the gap could be wider on periods of backlog like the one we experience now.

People from SFO who mailed in their application in May'07 finished the entire process in Oct'07. Most of us in SJ are still waiting to "receive" the oath letter. Things might be much better now in SJ than last summer, but it is a safe bet to assume SFO is faster in general.

Its true that processing time is quicker in SF than in SJ. This is mainly because SF DO has a bigger staff compared to SJ so its definetly not because they happen to be more efficient or something

Thank you for your replies!

I am planning to move to a county under SFO jurisdiction.. probably Fremont.

I will be eligible to file my N-400 in Jan 2009 (going three months back from my GC approval date of Apr 2004. I assume my foreign trips less than six months do not affect this date).

When should I move to a new place? Three months before?

Thanks again for your replies!

I think Fremont comes under the Oakland Satellite Office although it is under SFO DO. I believe their times are similar to SFO and faster than SJ.

I suppose you should move at least 3months in advance and possibly 4 to be safer; so anytime before Oct'08.

You can see my timeline. I am in Fremont, the FP will be in Oakland ASC, but interview, oath etc will be SF office.
