N-400 Receipt Notice Number

Hi All !

I am a newbie to this site and heard about from one of my friends.

My concern is about the Receipt Number on the N-400 Receipt Notice.

Recently I had applied my N-400 through Vermont Service Center and got the receipt notice with a number starting with ESC*002******.

For my curiosity, I tried to check the status online by entering the 13 digit number starting with 'ESC' and got the following error message

1. Case Status Retrieval Failed
2. This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated
system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If
you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact
the National Customer Service Center.

Below that there was another message which said

The 13-character application receipt number begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC)

Does anybody have an N-400 receipt notice having a number starting with ESC ? or is it a Typo ?

An immediate response would be highly appreciated

Thank You

Kevin

ESC stands for Easter Service Center (Burlington ,VT). It is not a typo on your case number.
The USCIS online status system hasn't been accurately working since last year due to spike in volumes. If your case number does not show up online, no need to worry. You can still call USCIS for any case updates.

i also applied to VSC and got the same kind of number ESC* and also mine does not appear in the case status online. but my receipt letter from the VSC says checking the status of your application online does not work at this time. that's why i didn't get concerned about it. i also think in december the dates for VSC stopped showing applications.
