N-400 questions

I submitted the copy of my green card, copies of my old and new passports as well as the copy of my SSN card with N-400 form. Is this going to be a problem since USCIS only asked for the copy of the green card?

Also, on Form N-400, as for the question Part 10 - B8 regarding member or association with any organizations, fund foundations, party, club, society or similar group, I checked "yes" and put down Christian churches on the list? Is this going to be a problem as well?

Any helpful input would be really appreciated.

Only a copy of green card is required. Why did you send all those documents? It is not going to be a problem.

Church membership is not a problem at all.

I talked to one attorney and he advised me to submit all documents. However, I checked the USCIS website and realized that only a copy of green card is needed. I am really worried that it will cause problems or delaying the process by submitting all these documents.
thank you so much for the input!
Do you know if the IP will ask for the copies of the passports and SSN card during the interview?

Passport might be required to prove that you lived in the US for the requisite length of time. SS card is not asked. You will be sent a list of items to carry to the interview.

"MIGHT" is the keyword. However, they go for checking requisite stay in US (passport) only if there is a serious discrepancy between their records and what you report on N400, or if you have borderline residency.

Attorneys tend to have a "submit everything under the sun" philosophy. When I was applying for my green card my employer's immigration attorney did a similar thing giving me a long checklist of what I should submit. But I challenged them on the ones that seemed unnecessary based on what I knew about the process, and they admitted those things were unnecessary.

The problem with submitting more than necessary is that it can create an information overload for the USCIS people reviewing the case, so you get delayed, or the more stuff you give them the more opportunity they have to find a discrepancy or encounter something that triggers them to ask more questions. Of course, when your case is delayed or gets complicated that creates an opportunity for the lawyer to make more money.

So in my case, do you suggest that I withdraw the original application since USCIS has not cashed my check yet? Should I resubmit a new application with the minimum required information? Also, the attorney told me to pay to "U.S.C.I.S" on the check instead of "Department of Homeland Secuirty" as instructed on the website. I don't know if all these will complicate my case and process. I start to feel mislead by the attorney's advice.
What do you think?

No need to withdraw the application at this stage. if the check is cashed, then you are OK. If not, you might be asked to send another check addressed correctly as mentioned on website.

Why did you not check the website and decide to go with the attorney?

I should have checked the website before submitted my application. But when I asked the attorney, he said that it's not a problem to write the check to USCIS instead of what is stated on the website. I don't know what to think at this point. I thought the attorney would know better, but obviously he did not have the complete information as what I thought.
Also, he suggested that I should attach the copies of passports and SSN card, which is not required either. I don't know if that's going to delay the process. I submitted the application on June 25, and I have not received anything nor my check is cashed yet since then.

Stop worrying. There is nothing wrong in sending more info then requested. More is always better then less. A few more documents submitted have no impact on time delay for your process. Be patient and if you have sent your app to correct address – they will cash out your check soon.
