8. a. Have you EVER been a member of or associated with any organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, society, or similar group in the United States or in any other place?

I’m aware that affiliation question is looking for political ties and I’m not member of any – but I was wondering what are some of the most common NON-political organizations that people are members of?

I have seen people on this forum mentioning their AAA, Costco or Sam's Club memberships, in addition to other clubs, organizations, societies. I believe it does not necessarily have to be a political entity for you to include it on your N-400; it just has to be a club/society/organization etc. Experienced folks may comment on this.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Yep, other examples people list are IEEE memberships etc
Professional organization memberships etc.

Go ahead and list those.

Go ahead and mention all professional and community memberships you may have. Such memberships dont hurt and actually help.

I think they mean if you are associated with any organized club or association you need to mention it,,,for example when you:

pay membership dues (like an automobile club)
contribute regularly, volunteer time (like Red Cross)
enjoy benefits (alumni association)

etc, etc
