N-400 On-line Case Status in a week

I looked at my cleared check for N-400 fee and there was the ESC# written by hand. I just did a query making it total 13 chars like ESC*00....... and voila....the case stauts was available today. It was not there yesterday though.

Amazing..from a govt agency point of view.

RD is 04/14/05 for my application and have not received any receipt yet although on-line status says it has been sent.

Good for you! Can you confirm what is the URL you used to check status? Its been 40 days and I have been waiting for my status to show up with no luck so far.

Also which service center did you send your N400 to? Much appreciated.

I just checked my status online and it said it was updated yesterday (4/21/2005). Previously, it hadn't changed since 11/01/2004. But when I click on the application it says the receipt number cannot be located and to call NCS. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Your letter of interview was mailed to you yeterday , as the last update field indicates that. i am talking from solid experience of many cases. Expect your letter tomorrow or Monday. Please let me know when you get it. You probably will be set for a June.

Thanks all for the quick response. I checked but my case does not show up either way. I am in VSC & Newark DO.

Here's the situation so far. Since I am expecting to move my residence this year I have given a friend's address as mailing address so I do not have to worry about change of address. From my dates below you can observe I recieved the 797 notice 10 days later than most people. Now I am awaiting FP and hope my notice does not come after the actual FP date!!!

Do any of you know how to interpret the absence of status online? Does that mean that my file is lying around some place and they have'nt scheduled my FP yet?

I am not trying to be paraniod about it but I need to travel to India for a ailing relative and would like my FP to be out of the way. Any feedback to help resolve this will be appreciated.

I think we can all relate to your situation. I think I have read couple of posts where people got there FP dates postponed. I am sure there will be a proces in place since people can't always make the dates chosen for them for FP. Also, Since you have not recieved anything so far and if you recieve something next week, the date should be atleast 7-10 days after that. So you might be back by that time.

I would suggest, find out the process for postpment and get a friends help in case you have to do that when you are not here. If nothing happens in between that the best.

I finally called the 800# and spoke to a USCIS rep. Gave all my info and since they do not give out details of N400 status on phone, I said that I needed to confirm my ESC#. So I gave my A#, zip code etc and she could not find my case/app. Then she said she will transfer to supervisor. When I got transferred, the supervisor said that N400 applications data they cannot see in the system and I needed to speak and Immigration officer. So I was transferred to the man himself :)

The funniest part was that the Immi officer said, that once a case is created by the SC, the case in transferred to the DO and they do not have anything to do with it. They just operate as a central location for collecting the applications. Whilst I know part of this is true - mostly after the FP is over. So bottom line, I could not sucessfully have them answer my question? In that if the FP was scheduled yet.

I would sit back and relax in most cases, but I have seen for almost all the NJ cases that FP happens within 40 days after PD. I am nearing 60 and looks like will have to be the exception :( + I need to travel to India soon...

Any suggestions, kindly shed light. TIA.
