Folks:
Here is my brief profile as far as my Naturalization file goes. My file is at Dallas District Office.

Priority Date: July 14, 2003
Finger Printing:September 2, 2003
Naturalization Interview: March 11, 2004 (Name Check Pending so Oath?)
FOIPA Reply: August 26, 2004 (No Records)

It has been more than one year that I had my fingerprints taken for Naturalization and my Oath is still in the air. I have requested FBI via fax to tell me on the status of my name check but have not heard so far. Even if some miracle happens I doubt if I could have my Oath in near future.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE VALIDITY OF THE FINGERPRINTS. HOW LONG ARE THEY GOOD BEFORE THEY HAD TO BE RETAKEN ?

So what happens after 15 months. Does BCIS automatically send a letter for another fingerprinting?

Yes they do send another letter for Re-fingerprinting. My questions are;

1- how long does it take to get the oath letter after Re-fingerprinting? (any past examples) Please share.

2- How long does it take to clear the second fingerprinting (Re-fingerprinting)?

I read somwhere in this forum that it usually takes between 48 hours to one week to get the fingerprints clear.

I also posted similiar questions in the following thread;

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Good luck to all.

Not necessarily. If the fingerprints where digitally captured, the US CIS is now saying that they might have them on their servers and they would be able to sent it to the FBI for checking without asking the applicant to come for another fingerprint appointment. This saves time and efforts for everyone involved. Good luck! :)

Digitally captured fingerprints are those fingerprints where they use a scanner instead of ink right?

I know two people who were fingerprinted on the scanner and they were issued Re-fingerprinting letters.
My guess is that they always issue some kind of letter to inform you. This is just my guess.

Refingerprinting letter

Highlander and hm11,

I was digitally fingerprinted on Jan 31, 2003, followed by an interview on August 26, 2003. But then I got stuck in the name check. Recently, my name check was cleared.......the USCIS has indirectly confirmed this and written that a notice for refingerprinting was sent out on August 20, 2004. So far I have not received this notice or the oath letter, so I am not sure what is happening now. I am going to call the Immigration Officer today afternoon and will let you know what he says.

In my opinion, they can reuse the digitized FPs only if they are saved. If they are not saved, then one has to be refingerprinted. Just my 2 cents!

Hi redkarr1;
First of all good luck. Its a good idea to check with the Officer as you do not want to miss the date for Re-fingerprinting.
Could you please post (or point) your timeline and your district. Thanks and best of luck.

Is it possible to know if the fingerprints have been digitally saved or not, of course the scanned ones.

You can probably check with the ASC where your fingerprints were taken. Or call your DO and ask about your fingerprints.

To check on the fingerprint clearance

Hi:

I know we can call (number???) to check if our fingerprint has been checked and cleared by the FBI. My question is: is it enough to just call and find out over the phone that it has been done, or do we need something in writing from FBI that our fingerprint checking process has been completed and result has been sent to USCIS?? :confused: Thanks to anyone for the reply.

Fingerprint letter missed in Mail & other

I applied for N-400 on 9/12/06 for citizenship. I live in Newark, DE.After 1.5 month, 2 weeks back I called USCIS. They said, my fingerprint scheduled date was passed. I never got letter for FP. They said they will mail me another letter to reschedule & if I don't receive within 30 days, I can call after 30 days.

1. Immigration officer in Dover, Delaware told me it can take long to reschedule. Last time this happened(1 year back) to one of her case & it took 6 months. Any way to expedite? I live in Newark, DE & I know that for sure(I called & check with them) our fingerprint office is not busy at all.

2. I missed 2 letters from USCIS- receipt letter(mailed on 9/21/06) & fingerprint(maied on 9/22/06).
I already confirmed my address. They had all the time my correct address & I'm receiveing all other mails without any problem. How can I make sure, I don't miss any more letter from them. Eventhough I offered to pay for registered/any mail with tracking no.They said, they can only send by regular mail.
They did cash my check. When I called first time around 10/25/06 to USCIS, lady said they've problem in system & mails getting delayed. But, she didn't say anything about Fingerprint letter. When I called, second time on 11/02/06, person told me that fingerprint letter was sent on 9/22/06 & I never received it.

3. I need to go India for few months for work. Can I go prior to fingerprint. & again between fingerprint & interview or that will be reason to deny citizenship(Too many long visits to India right before interview?). Currently I 've greencard. How long Can I stay in India?

4. Do they put in Interview queue now Or they put in interview queue after Fingerprint?
e.g. 3 months Delay in Fingerprint will also delay interview for 3 months?

5. My interview will be in Philadelphia & oath will be in Wilmington. I heard it takes atleast 1 month(normaly longer) for oath after interview, here. I need to go India ASAP after interview. Can I change my address to NJ(my cousin lives in NJ). to expedite oath. I heard thant Newark/NJ does INterview & oath same day. Or that will delay my interview date, though?

6. How long it takes to receive passport after oath. Can I apply for passport & go India?

7. Do I need to be in Newark, DE 3 months prior to interview or application?

8. Can I appear for interview in India(US immigratio/consulate office)

9. How/where can I check online with 12 digit no. It says invalid no. When I called USCIS they gave me 12 digit receipt no.

Thanks a lot
