N-400 Name Change Requested. Interview passed but no Oath Letter yet. Please help.

Hi,

My wife has passed interview in Chicago on 11/04/09. Since she requested last name change on N-400 the officer didn't schedule Oath Ceremony on the same day because he needed to order the name change or something like this.

It's been almost a month and we still didn't get OL. Does anybody had a similar experience and how long you had to wait for OL? Also, do you know if the Oath Ceremony in Chicago is held in the same place as for people without name change?

Oath letter delayed for name change request

I too have a similar problems. My self and my wife have attended interview and passed on 23rd November 2009 at Philadelphia office.
My wife has received Oath letter on 30th November 2009 for Oath date 9th December 2009.
For me IO said that because of name change Court house of Allentown, PA has decide to give Oath date.
Hence, It will take long time. That's was said

We called today the IO but he said that it can take another 90 days. No concrete information. We've also called the 800 number but the CSR only read the current online status (sent to local office for interview - which was already done) and that's it. I guess we have to wait and hope that we'll not have to go thru the nightmare wait process or we'll not have to sue them after 120 days.

Would you suggest to use infopass or they can give us the same generic information?

Wait..... I have a infopass appointment on 9th December 2009 at 10.15 AM at Philadelphia , PA office. The result of this , I will tell you on 9th Dec. evening ET.

Ok. I'll wait. Don't you need to wait 45 days from interview for infopass appointment? I tried to to that but it says that I need to be 45 days from last case update or something like this.

Because I am going to Philadelphia office on 9th Dec.2009 for my wife oath ceremony. I thought , why not to apply infopass on that day and try.
Then, I decided to take infopass on 9th Dec.2009.

Hope this will work.
 
Hi,

We have also made an infopass appointment for 12/09/09. We'll try to pass them our marriage certificate that my wife didn't have during the interview and what probably caused the delay. Hopefully it will help or at least they will tell us if the application was finally approved and now my wife is in the Q for oath ceremony. She was recommended for approval at the interview but it doesn't mean that she's approved.

I'll update you tomorrow.

Attended infopass on 12/09/09 at 10.15 AM at Philadelphia office.
Officer said after verified with IO who has interviewed me, in Philadelphia office cannot do oath cerremony for name change and doesn't have any facility.
Hence, The requested to Allentown Courthouse. They also said you will get oath ceremony less than 60 days. Please wait.

Same here. The infopass officer said to my wife that she's approved and that she needs to wait another 45 days for OL. He also said that there is Christmas time now and that it can additionally delay the process.


I keep you updated if we got OL.
