N-400 interview scheduled, then "descheduled"

Yep..it is definitely not in the order of PDs
My timeline is:

PD: 06/2002
FP: 07/2003

Interview Letter For 08/12/2003
Interview Descheduled

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your timelines. And congratulations to rpais on citizenship!

I remember when I moved to the district 5 years ago it was 2 years. Then they found those 15,000 N400s some old several years in someone's drawer. Then the feds came, people got fired, headlines were made and everything seemed to be improving. Even today I hear reports of I-485s being processed in about 6 monts, which is reasonable.

N400 not being processed based on PD is unfair. Maybe I will get lucky and mine will be in the lycky pile picked by the lucky hand. It's still unfair and long!

Sorry for venting here... my wife won't listen to me when I talk about it :)

How abt the other guys who got their interviews descheduled? Have you heard any thing from SJC? Did anybody visit their office to find out what was happening?

Thanks.

Notice

Thank you for posting your time-lines. What did your notice of action say? How fast did they say it would take? I wonder if they don't go by PD if they at least keep the time-frames on notice of action.

The notice did not give any new timelines. All it said was that my interview shceduled in August has been descheduled for some unforseen reason and that they will inform me of a new date when they schedule the interview. After that I haven't heard from them.

Thank you!

How about the original notice of action that's being sent after the app is received?
I've heard that you can inquire about the status of your case in person if the processing exceeds the time indicated on the original notice of action.

The original notice of action gave the timeline is 365 days. I did enquire about the status on the new fone line and they said I would get a status notice from the local office in 3-4 weeks after my enquiry. I haven't gotten anything yet..it is a month since I asked for the status...

That sucks!

I'm sorry to hear that.

Just out of curiosity how did the Online Case status work for you? Did it say anything besides "we received your application... blah blah blah... will let you know when processing is complete" or did it change at all?

Thank you in advance for your info...

Thanks!

I assume you got your interview letter somewhat shortly after that.

Well, thanks again for sharing your experiences.
I read on another forum (immigration.about.com) that people actually went in person to the local office to inquire about the status of the case. I don't remember the outcome, though. You may want to do a search on those forums.

The other option could be writing to Zoe Lofgren, the congresswoman for 16th CA district in SJ. www.house.gov/lofgren/. She is a former immigration attorney and has been involved in lots of activities around INS (I will keep calling them INS until something else changes besides the official name).
Good luck!

INS (I will keep calling them INS until something else changes besides the official name).
I think there is no harm in calling INS. They use the forms with INS name, USPS calls them INS. I don't think they mind being called INS.
