My wife applied for her citizenship in july 2003 pd (VSC/Newark). She received her interview notice in late april scheduled for June. But unfortunately we had already made travel arrangements for an overseas trip and hence requested postponment immediately. in mid-june we received a notice (I-761 i think) asking why she did not show up for interview. so we immediately sent another letter indicating that we had requested postponement. we have not heard anything since. on following up with uscis customer service they tell us newark office is now processing july 18 cases (this info is available in the district office processing timeline of uscis online also) and so we should hear within 30 days (her pd is a few more days away per this timeline). But this does not sound right and make sense since she already got an interview notice in late april and on looking over other posts here we find that people who filed in dec 2003 have also received august interview dates. the customer service rep said it does not make sense to go to newark office.
what would you advise? how to follow up. if we go to newark office whom to contact? any advise is greatly appreciated.
