N-400 and SSS

I got a scare recently when filling out the N-400 Citizenship application recently. I was unaware of the requirement for registering in the SSS (Selective Service System) between the ages of 18 and 26. My question is as follows:
I was born in November 1973
Entered US in May 1997 and was on B1 and H1B1 status till May 2000.
Got my permanent Residence card - with the date on the card as May 2000. (5/25/2000) at which time I was exactly 26.5 years old.
In N-400 - Part 10 - G(33) - the question regarding SSS worded:
Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?
do I have to check "Yes" or "No" ?

Also, will I need a status letter from the SSS, even if I say "No" to the question. If I explain to SSS my various INS status after arrival in the US to permanent residence and onwards, will they have a problem giving me a status letter that I was not required to register?

Has anybodys Citizenship been denied because of SSS?
Thank you.

do not worry. you are fine. goto SSS website and there is a form. just fill the form and attach your B2 and H1 copy. No explanation needed. they will give you letter very fast stating you are exempt from SSS.
