N-400 and absense from the US

I assumed that a person has to be physically in the US to file N-400.
If this is true would sending N-400 (certified, return receipt requested) and leaving the US the next day affect eligibility?
In this case a person is obviously out of the country on the priority date.

You still need to maintain continious residence requirements etc (less than 6 months out).
