My wife won DV 2012 but we are facing big problem

I presume u are from Egypt and live there. If so, some marriages in Africa are conducted in a customary fashion for which you have photos to show. The Feb 2011 is mere registration of your marriage. I would leave out the Feb, and state August 2010.

Hi Brothers & Sisters

My wife was selected for further processing , but we are facing major problem

When we made the entries we applied married , we were married but we hadnot registered our marriage or issued marriage certificate

we registered our marriage in Feb 2011 which is now the date in our marriage certificate

when we filll the form DS-0230 PART I and send it to Kentucky , which date wwe shall use

we are afraid to use the date in marriage certificate ( FEB 2011 ) because if the visa officer match it with our entry submitted in OCT 2010 which was stating that we were married at the time and accordingly he can think that fraud

we are also afraid to use the date of our actual marriage in Aug 2010 thus the visa officer can compare it with the marriage certificate date which is FEB 2011 and he would consider that fraud too

we do not know what to do and afraid to lose our dream

please advise

You will be fine, use the actual date you got married. It has happened to many people from Africa since most often we register the marriage months/years after the actual date. I will use my case as an example, the difference between my date of marriage and registration is about 8 yrs yet nothing was asked about this during the interview. Those COs at the consulates are aware about this issue as they have been facing them everyday.

That is not the case in Egypt. In some countries, like in Ghana, you could not get a marriage certificate until you win DV lottery. In that case you have an exception. Not in Egypt.

This is what brings an exception:
An officer in Accra said that the prevalence of customary marriages in Ghana, in which there is no official documentation of the union, complicates matters since even legitimate couples may only acquire a marriage certificate after winning the DV lottery. The custom
of arranged marriage in Nepal and Bangladesh makes it challenging for officers to sort out legitimate arranged marriages from those arranged solely for immigration purposes.
