My Visa stamping issue: Need answers

Hey All,

I just got my visa stamping (H4 visa) two days back at the Chennai Consulate. My husband's H1 visa is valid from July 2007 till July 2010. I had to get H4 extension since my Visa expired September last year. I received my H4 stamping and I was completely thrilled that I will be traveling this weekend...but to my surprise the Visa had an annotation which read "Not valid until: July 16, 2008" My husband's I-94 (H1b) is valid from July 2007 until July 2010. If his Visa is valid from July 2008 then why did I receive a stamping which says Valid only from July 16, 2008? And if this is the case..can I travel before July 16 2008? Is it possible for my travel..I desperately want to go back..is there any chance in the world that I can travel before July 16?? Please help me...Why are they doing this to people like me..I mean, I am just a dependent....

Your husband's visa is also valid from July 2008 or July 2007? Is the date, July 16th 2008 relevant to your husband or you in any way?

If his Visa is valid from July 2008 then why did I receive a stamping which says Valid only from July 16, 2008?

I would personally not travel against the wording of the annotation.

And if this is the case..can I travel before July 16 2008? Is it possible for my travel..I desperately want to go back..is there any chance in the world that I can travel before July 16??

My husband's H1 is valid from July 16, 2007 upto July 16, 2010. No it is not relevant in anywhichway except the Consulate did this because they want to issue H4 visa for not more than two years..I dont know...Cant think of any reason except the two-year factor! The date of issue states: June 17 2008 but the Annotation states "not valid until July 16 2008" And it is not relevant to me or my husband in anyway. This was my second visa stamping the first one expired in September 2007.

I think, the visa officer throught your husband's I-797 approval notice has H-1B visa validity from July 16, 2008 to July 16, 2010. In that case, this is an error (my assumption).
