my uncommon marriage situation

We know each other even before we came to U.S., both
our families know we are going to be together, so getting
married was only a formality, we were living together for years
and only got officially married after two citizen kids. There was no
kind of marriage fraud at all, and we both came on H1, both of
us got our GC through our employers separately thus no sort
of immigration benefit was gained either by staying unmarried.
Now I have applied for citizenship and
wondering if my marriage and children before marriage
would raise any unnecessary questions/complications during the interview.
I appreciate your thoughts on my marriage situation. Thanks.

you shld ask this un-common question to a lawyer, this forum will give you some advise, but how much of that will you really believe?

MissMolina, I consulted with an attorney, he simply said you are not applying through marriage, you don't have anything to worry about, I am not entirely satisfied with that answer, though for this consultation I paid a couple of hundred dollars.

I see no issues

Since you are not applying thru' marriage. Each applicant will be on their own, I assume your kids are already USCs' as they were born here. If not they will get their USC thru' you. I do not see any issues at all and This is USA where most of the children are born bfore marriage. You should not worry about this too much!

Thanks 2bc. Yes, both our kids are U.S. citizens. I even included a copy of their birth certificates with N-400.

I really don't see any problem with your case as described. USCIS don't care about kids before marriage, or living together except perhaps in the case where you have an affair and it results in the break-up of a marriage.

Anyway, as already stated, since you are not applying based on marriage, its all pretty much irrelevant.
