My status and visitors visa?

I'm almost thru with my 6 years of H1B and not extended yet. I recently got my EAD and 485 is pending. Can I sponsor my parents, eventhough my I94 is close to expiry?
 
Yesterday I read a post on this board and someone said they were able to get a visitors visa for parents while on EAD and AP.
