hi

My Son was born in US and is a US Citizen and he is 5 years old, Myself and my wife both of us are Indian Citizens. We came to India in March 2007 and due to some personal reasons we could not go back to US. My son came to India on Tourist visa, and we are just extending the permission to stay in India, I have tried applying for PIO card but they have sent a letter saying that they cannot issue a PIO card since his visa type is of 'T' type, I have tried calling them to get more information but there is of no use. Can any one please suggest me how to change the visa type to 'X' and get the PIO card.

kodumuris,
Antonc gave you a reference to a link that has the posting of one user's experience in doing this in India.

He is referring to the 2 replies in that site.

Also check http://www.r2iclubforums.com/forums/showthread.php/9052-USC-Newborn-In-India-Visa-Process. It deals with USC parents.... But, if you post your queries in www.indiamike.com and/or www.r2iclubforums.com you will find more traffic on this topic.

Hope you find answers soon... and Good luck

After a bit of research, I wonder why did you not have a 10-yr visa for your son ? and as a minor he does not have to register. Since he is a minor his passort is not a 10 yr, but 5 year validity. Double-check that too :(

OP: :(

I went an did a search on indiamike. Guess what ! You posted an identical query as the one above last year in indiamike - http://www.indiamike.com/india/indi...f9/change-of-india-visa-status-t-to-x-t90326/ and http://www.indiamike.com/india/indi...visa-without-leaving-india-t27839/#post815452

You got some good advice on that site, and you did not even care to update your post here - Just a cut and paste from 2009. At least be straightforward with us if you want us to help you.

In Set. 2009 you posted there, your son was 5 years; and here on Sept 21 2010 he is still 5 years.
There is more than enough information and pointers on that forum to help you navigate through your son's dilemma.

:(

Iam very sorry for that, My son is 6 years old now, can you please help me in converting the visa and applying for PIO card
