My parents applied for visitors visa at Mumbai consulate and their
appln., was rejected after they were asked the following 3 questions.

1. How many children do you have? They said 2.
2. Where are they? Both are in US
3. What is their status? Both are H1 Visa holders.

They were denied visa under the 214(b) category though they had taken
all the required docs. The consular didn’t check for anything.
They are planning to reapply again. Please provide your suggestions / experience for the following so that it'll helps us in reapplying.

They took their property details during their first visit with all the Investments and My Mom has a Bank Job, she explained that too, didnt help.

Please tell me how to go about for the 2nd Try? My Wife is Pregnant, would that help?

Your help in this regard is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,
The consul made his/her mind up the moment he/she learnt that both your parent's kids live in the US. There is nothing your parents could have done at that time to change the consul's mind. Your parents can reapply. However, they risk 214(b) again. Your wife being pregnant will actually not help. Consuls are aware of local culture/tradition. The additional information of your wife being pregnant may be deduced by the consul as a reason for your parents to go to the US for a prolonged duration in order to provide post natal care.

Thank you Mr. Ghori for your reply, can you please provide any additional reasons or anything that will help them get the Visa?

I wish I had a magic formula to give you that will ensure your parents get visas the next time they apply. I would suggest one route your folks can take. Let a few months go by, say 3-4. Then, one (preferebly your mother) applies for a visa only. Husband staying behind may help your mother defeat 214(b). It is worth a shot. If she gets her visa, your dad can apply for his a few days later. If he gets it, both can travel to the US to visit you. If your father is rejected, at least your mother can visit you.
Good luck to your folks.
