My kid was approved, but not me...

While I am very happy, this seems to be a little strange to me...I got an email from USCIS last Friday notifying my kid's I-485 was approved on 3/16/2006. I then verified this from my account with USCIS. I cannot believe this because: 1) as the principal applicant, I have not been approved and I have not seen any update to my application from my USCIS account. 2) I am a EB3 and my priority date is Feb. 2003. From the web, it looks USCIS is processing April 2001 cases from my country.

Now I am curious if there is anybody is or was in the similar situation. Based on your experience/knowledge, how long could it take to get the approval for myself after my kid approved (shortly, a couple of months, half a year or more)?

Thanks.

Call VSC

Call BCIS, choose right options while calling (option like, one of more cases filed together but some cases are stil pending)
It looks like your case is approved

August31,

What you have stated is truly strange. Dependents cannot be approved before the primary applicant. I know this for a fact. Also since your PD is in 2003, your kids PD should also be the same and the case should techincally not be eligible for approval. Anything is possible with the USCIS. Please contact them and make sure everything is straight.

Wife and me got approved my 14 y not yet

Hi everyone,
I recieved emails for me and my wife stating that I 485 have been aproved and that we will recieve our card in the mail. But they did not approve my sons 485. When I contacted them they said he will require a security clearance and finger printing as he is now 14 years old. Has anyone had a problem like this. I have not yet recieve any notice. Ours were approved on march 13.Please reply

It happens all the time. specially with asylees... dependents are getting approve before the primary.
I called CIS to inquire about handling "family group" cases and a senior officer at TSC told me that they dont do that anymore... that all depends on fingerprint/ backgroud clearance...
