Hi Guys,
Me & my wife had the interview on May 20, 2003. It was very cool & the officers are very friendly. My wife's middle initial on the applaction did not match with the Birth certificate. The officer told they need to sent to court for name change which will take a week & she will receive within 5 to 6 weeks a letter when she can take the oath.
Our interview was at 9:40. Both of us arrived at 8:40. I was called by 9:00. The officer asked few questions and gave a paper with 10 question to read loud and anwere them. I answered 9 out of 10. She said I need to answer atleast 6 (60%). She asked to write "I know to write in english". She said I passed and if I want I can take the oath at 2:00 PM. The total time spent was less than 15 min. I said I can & went to take oath at 2:00. It took nearly 30 min. I received my Naturalization certificate and went to post office and applied for passport.

hi puppalapati ,

Would you please tell us your TIMELINE?

At interview , what did the officer told you about the Oath letter > how long does it take to get the oath letter?

You are from which state?

Good luck

My time line details:
My Priority date : December 21, 2003
Finger prints : February 12, 2003
Interview date : May 20 ,2003 9:00 AM
Oath : May 20, 2003 2:00 PM

I filled from Baltimore, Maryland (Vermont processing center).
If there in no name change (name on the application should match exactly with the birth certificate including the middle inital)
and pass the interview the officer told to if I want I can take the interview in the after noon at 2:00 PM. All the 35 applicants who took the oath with me on that afternoon had the interview on the same day morning.
My wife passed the test but her middle inital did not match with her application. So she was told, she will be informed by mail when she can take the oath. She was told it may take 5to6 weeks. They should send to Court for the name change (which the officer said will take 1 week), then the INS will schedule the interview (which can take more time).

Congratulations on your oath and getting your citizenship.
Got a quick question, are you still with your GC sponsored employer right after your GC approval? If not, when did you leave? Were you interviewed based on that ?

Cheers,

I got my GC on October 31, 1997. I left the employer on April 01 1998. The officer just asked weather I am working currently at the same employer as in my Citizenship application. She never asked about the employer at the time of GC. Just to mention she has my GC complete file from 1996 with her. She was checking the Name on the application with the Birth certificate I submitted with my GC application.
Good Luck

History and Civics Questions

On N-400, one question was "Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by law enforcement officer for any reason?"

How many forum members mention the "Minor Traffic Ticket" such as REd light cross, speeding ticket, no right turn" ?

please response everyone in this forum.

thank you for your response ,

n 400 Interview Buffalo, NY

Hi Puppalapati -

When you received your interview letter. Did it mention anything about the Oath ceremony. Or did they ask you to take the Oath once you had passed the interview??

Any help would be appreciated

Priority date: Nov 18th 2002
Finger prints: Dec 24 2002
Interview (scheduled for): July 23, 2003
Oath: Will the Oath ceremony happen the same day?
INS center: Buffalo, NY

Will the Oath ceremony happen the same day? Or I have to wait to hear back from the BCIS???

Please share your experience.

Thanks

Hi kogan,
The officer was asking only about weather "I was ever been arrested, cited or detained by law enforcement officer for any reason?" I had a speeding ticket, I replied no. (my understanding is traffic viloations don't count).

HI beanzz,
The interview notice is standard. It does not mention any thing about oath. My wife middle inital has a spelling mistake, she was told she passed the exam & will be notified by mail when she can take oath. In my case there are no name chagne. The officer said I passed the test & if i want to take the oath on the same day I can.

Good Luck

Hi beanzz
After the interview the officer asked, if I would like to take the oath on the same day at 2:00 PM or later. I said I would like to take on the same day. There is no mention of oath in the interview letter.
