My H1B sponsor doesn’t need me right after I landed in the US!

I was approved for H1B and got my visa month and a half ago. I suppose to start working for my sponsor company on Oct 1st 2007.

I landed in the US few days ago. Today Oct 1st I was told that they don’t need me at the moment!!! It could be because the company’s business is strongly connected with the US Mortgage industry and as we all know, now is the big crash in that sphere.

I browsed that forum all day long today and saw some threads on H1B transfers, so looks like I have to go with that now.
But what I need to do and how to proceed in my case is completely unknown for me.

I’m really confused, seriously stressed out and have no idea what to do and what are my options. It is my first time with H1B and any help, advice and even rumor will be appreciated.

I already started to look for a new job and already have some options, but are there any requirements in cases such mine to transfer my H1B, if I didn't work even a day for my sponsor company?

Any info, help and advices are appreciated.

P.S. If it's helpful - I spent my OPT from Sep 06 until June 07 with the same company that sponsored me.
 
Unfortunately you are not eligible to "transfer" (meaning changing employer without going outside the United States first to get an H-1B visa with a new employer name endorsed) because you are not considered to be maintaining status right now because of the lack of employment. It doesn't mean you can't change employer-it's just you won't be able to without going outside the United States first. One way or the other you are going to need a new H-1B visa stamped outside the United States and reenter before you can start working for a new employer.

If you choose to go back to your home country, the employer who sponsored your current H-1B has to pay for your return trip. FYI, it's employers' obligation toward an H-1B employee when they decided to terminate employment before the H-1B petition expires, and any decent employers who regularly hire employees under H-1B visa know that.

Good luck with your job hunting. But try not to stay in the United States longer than you have to.
 
My sponsor agreed to hie me back but with lower salary

After a discussion with my sponsor about all the H1B troubles that I faced, he agreed to hire me back until I find a new employer who's willing to transfer my case. So far this is kind of promising but what bothers me much is that the recent pay stubs that I receive are with lower amount of the minimum requested for this kind of position. I'm hunting for new job and respectively a new sponsor more than one month and I'm about to accept an actual job offer soon. So, if anyone can tell me if my H1B transfer could be possible with only 2 pay stubs that are lower than the required amount, I'll appreciated. Thank you all for the help.
