My GC woes

Guys,

I need help urgently...

My 485 has been pending since July 2003

Recently with strong intervention from the senator's immigration helpline, I got my 140 approved.

It's kind of opaque but the info I got was that my case was sent to a division where they were ready to withdraw it, because they felt that my company had withdrawn the application. (i am sure this is a mix up)

anyways long story short, i got the 140 approved last week and spoke to vermont today to ask about my 485. all along I had been told that both would be done together and today the officer on the other line shocked me by telling me that my name check was initiated only on 25th feb 2005 ie last week....

now my dilemna is this: i am not sure how long the name check takes...my guess after reading this portal is that it takes anywhere from 1 day to more than a year...

what do i do? is there a way to expedite it? should i get the senator's help again or should i file for a FOIPA with FBI.....

Do nothing. once it goes for a security check with FBI (just last week) nobody can do anything about it. now if it was delayed then things are different . I am not sure if senators want to interfere in the FBI process anyway. bad luck. But atleast the process is on the right track. Who knows now you might get lucky and things get done fast.

I am in the same boat

I am in the same boat. Though my ND is 9/03, I haven’t received FP notice yet. When I call VSC rep they are telling me that my file is waiting at officer's desk and will send for FP. When? No one knows.
