After filing for my lc my company merged with another company. My I-140 and I-485 were filed under the new name. I called up today to check the status and the IIO said that because the company names are different my case is on hold. They are waiting for some response from Washington. Has anybody heard about this ? Is somebody going thru the same thing as me ?

Thanks.

There are so many people including me who are waiting for months for regulation from INS hqs. My company name had a simple name change.

Don\'t worry, there are a quite a lot of people like you from Igate. But we all have filed for Amended I140. Our cases were on hold untill we filed amended I140s. But ours are little bit different form yours though Our company changed name after I485 was filed.

Rita, excatly same situtation here. H1B/Labor are under a different name, and I-140/I-485 are different due to merger. What does your lawyer say?

My lawyer says that it\'ll either get approved after some time, or they\'ll send it to my local INS office. My local INS office will either approve it or call me for an interview. My lawyer said there were some other cases like mine and that\'s what happened. About the Washington issue, she said they are probably waiting for some bill to pass but I shouldn\'t have any problems.

I\'m totally confused. My lawyer thinks it\'s no big deal while the IIO I spoke to said that my case is on hold till god knows when.

Hi Rita,

I am in the same situation. My company was acquired and I-485 is under new company name. My lawyer was initially saying that INS will eventually approve it. What you heard is correct - a new law, AC21, was passed last October, but INS is still to issue the regulations and therefore they have put all name change cases on hold.

I pushed to file an amended I-140, because there is no telling when the regulations will be out. Currently, this is the only way to take the case off hold. Read about IGATE on this forum and you will learn a lot!

Good luck!
