My Friends GC is approved!!! Concurrent Processing

My Friends GC is apporved yesterday, concurrent NSC

I-140/I485 RD OCT-2003.


He is going to india tomorrow and had Valid H1-B Status. He was in H-1b never used EAD or AP. Can he travel and come back without any problem.

He is planning to get married. Will there be any problem

This could be totally wrong but I was told that I can re-enter on H status even if my GC is approved WHILE I'M AWAY FROM THE US. However, if the GC is approved BEFORE I LEAVE THE US I should get stamped and travel on the GC. This is what the USCIS told me when I called them earlier about the "GC being approved while away on H without AP" issue.

I'm very skeptical about this information though so I'd definitely look for an authoritative opinion from someone here or speak with a lawyer. I'm pretty sure I've seen murthy say that you can travel on H without worrying about these issues (as long as the H is valid).

If it's at all possible to do (early?) stamping its probably best to do that...
