My Experience with USCIS and how I got my plastic card

Guys - I just wanted to share my experience with you all while going through my GC ride. I followed the rule and I got my stuffs in time, including my plastic card. My case was approved in June'04 and my 485 was filed in March'2002.

It seems USCIS is very professional now-a-days. They keep their words. You just need to cool-off a bit while talking to them . I was very very polite while dealing with them.

While I was getting frustrated after JIT moved one month beyond my filing date, I just called them and had a conf. call with my wife. Then I filed a complaint. I got my GC approved within a month.

Then I was waiting for my plastic card for a month - no luck. I have seen my friends getting the card in 2-3 weeks. Again I called them and had a concall with my wife, filed a complaint. I got my plastic card in next 3 weeks.

Well, thats me. There are exceptions. But I tried to keep cool and dealt with them professionally.

"Life is not fair and get used to it" - thats not all. "Keep the faith" and you will get what you want.

Just try it out, you may get the same result. Thank me - if it helps anybody in anyway :-)

Wish you all good luck!!!!!!

You were just lucky !!

Royamit,

You were lucky both the times. I called USCIS few times & I feel the other way ( I kept cool most of the times, as I have no other option, I guess). They are very rude... very unprofessional. I requested them few times to give me time to have my wife in con. call but they denied. There are lot of people, filed before JIT date, waiting for approval and I'm sure many of them are trying hard to push USCIS to explain delay, the only update they get is to wait for another 60 days

Are you calling same NSC 800 number or some other number ?? Surprise to know USCIS has some ..so called professional officers...

I agree with koolkat. There is no 'rule' or 'professioness' in CSC. You got what you want both times because it's about the time + luck. I saw many others think they got their approval because they inquired a few days early. This does not apply in my case. I had followed the rule for the longest time, only find out that my case has been left behind most others.

"they keep their words." -- exactly, they kept saying wait for another 30 days, so it is, 30 days later, the answer is still wait another 30 days....

Also I don't think 'cool' and 'polite' is the issue. Besides most of my inquiries are from my attorney, even they are told recently to quit calling so often.

Bottom line, I think CSC is doing the way they like, regardless what we ask. Our voice is simply not heard, unless we unite together, but that's a different issue...

All's well that ends well - good to know you are ending the 485-enigma phase on a happy note.

Me too March 2002. And same employer, same address...

I too called up USCIS and asked about my case with complete politeness - not for approval but just to get my FP2. Even that does not work. Lawyers' inquiry, Senators' inquiries, all stones turned - yet to no avail. What I figured out was they send out the same info to the Senators and lawyers as they give us (old cases within 60 days) - only that they reword it in a way that it sounds encouraging to all parties except us. Yes - they are professional to the extent that the same letter is sent out to all inquiries and LUD changes. This "60 days" message did not change in the last 40 days that I have pro-actively pursued my case.
