RFE AND RESPONSE DEC 2002

I called NSC about 2 weeks ago and was told that there was a "hold" on my case and the possible reasons for the "hold" are that my case was either under security checking or there was a significant finding in my case. Today I call NSC again and was told my case is pending, no update, and not assigned to an officer. And I asked about the "hold" and was told it is not showing such information on the screen and no update for security check. Now I don't know what to believe.

Any thoughts?

do you know why there could be a hold or what the significant find would be?
Are you from any of the countries that had to undergo special registration?
Since you are a vetran (AUG 2001), you must have gussed by now that the IIO's are the biggest bunch of morons assembled in one place.
Either they or the systems BCIS uses are totally flawed.

2 months back I was told my case was assigned to an officer and that it would take 30-60 days for processing.
1 month back was told it is not assigned to an officer and it could take upto 180 days.
last week I was again told it is with an officer and it would take 30-60 days.

I used to be totally disgusted with this, but now I just don't care about it anymore. So don't care what IIO's say. If you are bored, just call them up for some time pass.

Facade,

Thank you for your response. I am not from a country that requires special registration. I just hope BCIS is not implementing any additional stupid process. I am out of patience, but what else can we do except waiting.

hang in there bud. I'm a sept 2001 case and i'm still waiting although an RFE was issued under my name and the response was received by INS exactly 2 months ago.

I would suggest writing a letter or calling the office of the two senator's from your state as well as your congressperson. You can get that information from congress.com and senate.com.

If nothing else, it'll give you something to do instead of feeling helpless and frustrated and also, it'll let the senators know first hand what an inept organization is the INS. If everyone complains, I'm sure there's bound to be some changes in the way immigration is handled.
