Must Read For All....

KK has the link working....

Good Dr...

It seems as if KK has linked it successfully.... The operational idea on the article is this: having a greencard doesn't grant anyone immunity from boarding an airline as a deportee....

I see lot of immigrants who land themselves in hot water, peel their skin off and seek some magical surgery when USCIS is aroused and ready to screw them over back to their home countries.... So, my point with this article: all immigrants be warned.... victory shall be yours if you don't screw up or you will be on the hook for deportation.

For those who love to drink and drive, be warned once you are issued a DUI, you are eligible for a nice package: deportation should the prosecutor chose to aggressively pursue charges against you under the need to fill caseload of immigration related cases as demanded by DOJ.

This just goes to show how ass-backwards the system of immigration in this country is. People who came here legally are deported for minor run-ins with the law, and yet for people who broke the law by coming and working here illegally the government is bending over backwards trying to pass laws to invite them to become citizens.

Honestly, its a scandel.

Very true...

Guys...

My favorite part of the article: "Studies by professors at Harvard and the University of California have shown that immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than do native-born Americans." In my view, the fact that native born Americans commit some of the most heinous crimes, but they aren't deported or punished severely, except to be stripped of their voting priveledge. So, it is a fair system according to the US Congress. If you remember, this is the same law which Congress wanted to apply retroactively so that they could deported people who had commited crimes from 1976 onwards till the passing of the law in 1996. The Supreme Court told Congress to shove it you know where by declaring that law to be unconstitutional and for douche bags.

My only concern and contribution is this: immigrants be warned about the consequences of committing American crimes (DUI, Drug dealings and many mores), because as an immigrant, you ass is going to be on a stove burner.:p

My hope is for the US Congress to change this law, so that people can have representation and can appeal their deportation orders. I mean, if our justice system is the envy of the world  so we are told daily, then why are these people denied the right to a representation before they are deported?
However, with the balls shaving of habeas corpus from our court system, then what hope do immigrants have? Except to drink at home and commit those crimes once they are american citizens, because then they can't deport you to Siberia or Mali or Haiti or UK...or the rock which you came from....:)

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS. THIS IS HORRIBLE. WHAT IS WRONG WITH USA:eek: .

does it mean that you want to keep criminals who sell marijuana, or commit armed robberies, in the US just because in the meanwhile they managed to father 4 US citizens or their wife got cancer? Please!

In a case of public urination - it was wrong to deport the guy, I agree.

P.S. the article said that some who have been adopted by US citizens get deported as well. In my understanding, those adopted by US citizens get US citizenship, and it's very hard to strip somebody of the citizenship as opposed to taking away GC.

To be fair, the old law used to be you could get deported for an "aggrevated felony". Armed robbery is fair enough for deportation in my mind, misdemeanors should not be deportation offenses. However the worst thing about the new rules is how they are applying them retroactively, so some minor offense you commited 10 years ago has you deported. Surely you can't support this?

To be honest though, if I got deported for some minor offense without trial, you can be damned sure that the last thing the USA would see would be my middle finger aloft as I shout "good riddance"! I love the USA, but if she treats me badly, I'm not going to shed any tears about leaving, and I'll take my USC wife with me.

Amen to that!! The punishment should fit the crime is all I am trying to say. That is what jails are for. Give them the same punishment you would someone who was born in America. That is a fairer approach than what they are doing!!!

DUI/DWI does not get you deported, if you only have one on your record. Multiple maybe probelmeatic.
