Multiple H1Bs with non cap exempt and cap exempt

I have been on H1B with Company A since Jan 2004 and it is up for renewal in Nov 2007. Company A is a non-profit organization, so it is a cap exempt employer.

I have a new approved H1B with Company B with a start date of Oct 1st 2007. Company B is a regular Profit oriented organization, hence a non cap exempt employer. Company B is a consulting firm which would place me on projects with its clients.

Situation: I would want to start with Company B when I find an appropriate project. Until I find a project I am interested in with Company B, I would like to continue with Company A. This means I should extend the H1B with Company A if I want to work past Nov 2007 with Company A. I would eventually like to go with Company B but wait till I find a suitable project. In the meantime I feel it is safe to continue with Company A.

Dilemma: If I file for an extension on the H1B with Company A, will that have any negative effect on the already approved H1B with Company B or on the renewal with Company A?

2nd H-1B petition

I am not sure if you got an answer to your question. But here is my situation. I ahve one approved H-1B petition but have a better offer from another employer also willing to file for H-1B on my behalf ;)

Q. will the 2 nd H-1B filing affect the first petion in anyway? or are these totally unrealted???
