Multiple Citizenship Question

Hi Guys,

This forum is great and quite helpful. I was hoping if someone could shed light on my issue.

I would like to know if one can have OCI (Overseas Citizen Of India) + Canadian Citizenship + US Citizenship. I am currently a canadian citizen and am likely going to apply for OCI and US citizenship (based on 5 yr permanent residence)

My questions-
1) Is there a restriction to possess 3 citizenships (although I am not sure if OCI is even counted as citizenship).
2) Also how does Interview officer respond when they see OCI stamp on the passport as I beleive US allows dual citizenship only. I don't really want to complicate my US citizenship interview/case.
3) Is there anything extra to be mentioned in the N-400 application about the OCI status?

Many thanks for your anticipated help.

If I were you I would postpone OCI till completion of the naturalization process in the US. There is no need to complicate things which could lead to unnecessary delays. I am doing the same.

My daughter is Canadian. So after I complete my US naturalization and OCI process she will be in the same position as you (US, Canada and OCI). Also, there is a Triple Citizen in this forum (US, Canada and Pakistan), and at least one more person with three citizenships on this forum (dont remember the name). So triple citizenship is not unheard of.

Dual/multiple citizenships are allowed. OCI is NOT citizenship, so don't worry about that. Go ahead and apply for OCI.
