I was a doctor in India then I came to USA as a computer system analyst after taking some computer training. Now I have applied for I 485 as a computer system analyst. My question is will I be able to join residency or practise as a doctor after I get my Green card? If yes, then when is safe to change my profession?

There is no absolute answer for this question...

Since 1. any answer will be construed as either pessimistic or advising to commit immigration fraud.
2. There is no safe period after GC that INS has set.
The extereme conservative estimate I can come up with is after getting citizenship!!(i.e. after 5 years). On the other extreme is 6 months (top of my head, no logic estimate)
