Hi all, I am posting this on behalf of a friend. She is in adj of status as a Asylee, after her father came here on asylum. she currently lives with him and he got his US citizenship recently, while she and rest of his family members are waiting on Adj of status. She works part-time using her EAD and also goes to school.
1. Can she move to another place inside USA to live independently without affecting her application of Adj of Status ?
She is 22 yrs old.
2. can she notify INS of her new address and expect to get the correspondence and the GC approval to the new address while her family is still living in a different address.
3. Can she marry a GC holder and still maintain her application to Adj status thru the original application ?
thanks to all in anticipation.

Martinem,

1. Yes,
2. Yes,
3. Almost certainly no.

Where did she file her adjustment application?

Thanks for the reply, She filed in Vermont service center , RD July 1998, ND Feb 12, 1999. From browsing this forum, i gather that folks who applied in 1998 are getting the approval. So do you think I should advise her to stay put, having come closer to the approval and not delay it further by moving to another address. Also, if she moves to state that comes under a diff. service center, it would involve INS transferring the case to that service center (VT to TX, say.. ) thanks a lot.

May be she reported to me wrongly. So even the I-485 as an asylee would have to be filed at Nebraska ? If so the receipt would be LINxxxxxxx and not EACxxxxxxx
I have asked her to write to INS enquiring about the status.
Thanks as always
