Moving from TN CSA to TN Manager

Hello

Has anyone moved from Computer System Analyst (CSA) of TN to Manager role of IT who has direct reports?

My friend came to US as TN CSA and completed MS (Information Technology) in a reputed US university two years ago. He is getting an internal promotion as a manager. Will this be notified to USCIS?

Appreciate if you can share a similar experience or guide.
 
Yes, and -- bad news -- he probably isn't eligible for the position undert TN, as managerial positions are not allowed. The firm needs to keep him doing CSA activities, or apply for an H1-B.
