Moving during the citizenship application process

Hi, my husband has filed for citizenship 2 months ago and is done with fingerprinting. We are planning to buy a new home and move out. How does this effect the speed of his application processing? Thanks in advance.

Are you moving out of the district (in USCIS terms) in which you now live, or merely moving from one neighborhood to another (or one town to another in the same metropolitan area?

If you are just moving locally, I'd call the 1-800 number to find out how to change your address. If you are moving to an area under the jurisdiction of another USCIS district office, life is more complicated. I don't remember the jurisdiction rules (I read them somewhere), but I believe you need to have 3 months of residence within the jurisdiction of the local office.

Hopefully, they'll complete your processing before you move!

Thanks for the info. Our move is going to be within the jurisdiction. However our main concern is, is it going to delay the processing a lot, given that we promptly file AR-11? Please let me know asap as our big decision of home buying depends on this. All the experts out there, any suggestions?

I'd phone the 800 number or get an InfoPass and ask for the procedure. I can't imagine that there is anything wrong with moving, it's just that you don't want to miss any important mail.

When I've gone for an InfoPass appointment, they asked me "is this still your address". Just schedule an appointment right about the time you will be moving.
