Helo Gurus,

My Mother got an I-94 for 7months, can she stay full 7 months and leave the country atleast 3 days before it expires 7months?

Reason the question is asked generally I-94 is issued for visitors 6months or less and as per INS to my knowledge visitor person cannot stay more than
6 months in USA.

But my mother got 7 months I-94 on visitor visa. Is this normal?
and She can stay beyond 6 months until reaching 7 months time right?
No questions will be asked by INS next time when she enter the USA.

Regards,
Naveen.

I think it was a typo on the admitting officer's part. Your mother can stay until the I-94 expires. What questions will she be asked upon her next visit, no one can speculate. A lot will depend on when the next visit occurs. In my honest opinion, no visitor should spend more than 6 months in any country, since that person is no longer a visitor then. Ideally your mother should leave before her 6 months are up, but it is a decision you and she need to make.

I think the officer made a mistake. If she doesnt need to stay 7 months, let her leave after 6 months to avoid any trouble whatsover in the future. You never know.
