Mother applying alone for B2

Hello Friends,

I am planning to call my mother
to visit me in US. My father does not
have passport and he does not
want to apply for the visa.

An agent told me that sending the
mother alone for visa interview (she
is below 60) would definitely mean
rejection.

Has anyone of you had the
same situation and got the visa
or got rejection ?

Please advise how risky it is ?

She will be applying at Mumbai
consulate.

Thanks,
Sameer.

Wouldn't your father not applying show that your mother has more ties India rather in US as her husband is in still in India.

I am not sure why your agent said so, Any idea?

Raju,

I also had the same thinking.
The agent is also asking now for
the original birth certificate, even
for drop-box procedure.

I have one positive and one negative
example when someone's mom tried
to apply alone for visa. That's why
I wanted to know other experiences
or views.

Thanks for your reply.

Sameer.

Sameer,

If your mom's DOB is before 1970 then Indian Gov doesn't mandates the person to have a birth Certificate. 10th stand certificate would do good.

You are trying to use drop box so your mom must ber over 65, so there is no need for birth Certificate, you send her 10th marksheet or if she has election photo id card with her.

I have read some posts here that US emabssy in Ahemdabad is asking for birth certificate, if you intend to file there.

Do post your observations in this forum.

Good Luck!

Good luck

Raju,

My mother is below 60. I am also
planning to invite MIL who is above
60.

I am worried that if you send
original birth certificate through
drop-box, will they return it.

And they require my and my wife's
birth certificates not my moms.

You are mentioning age for drop-box
is 65. My agent is saying it is 60.
This is at Bombay consulate.

Sameer.

Well if your agent says so then good enough, They (consulate) are suppsoed to return all documents of the interviewing candidate to them except they might keep some of the sponsering guy documents.

I am sure there are many horror stories of documents getting misplaced or not getting returned. My very closed friend who applied H4 visa for his wife in Delhi and the their marriage certificate in original was lost.

So go ahead and good luck.

Hi Good Friend,
Would highly appreciate if you could let us know whether your mother got the stamping done alone. Thanks.

Your immigration consulatant name in Mumbai

What is the name of your consultant name in Mumbai? My parents are also applying for their visa. Also, i have a birth certificate, but it does not mention my name. All it mentions that a daughter was born to my parents. The birth certificate has my parents names on it, not mine. Don't know, if the consulate would accept it.

Please keep us posted on the progress of your case.
