Most Valid response for not having worked for sponsoring employer

My GC was filed by company A using substituted labor because I was working for their sister firm (owned by same shady desi). After I got EAD, I-140 approved and 485 pending for more than 180 days, I joined another company planning to use AC-21. I am now planning to send a AC-21 letter to USCIS as my case date is approaching. If in the interview the officer asks "why did you not work for the sponsoring company using your EAD", what will be a very valid answer that will not raise any red flags ?

I live in california and the sponsoring company is in Virginia, can I tell them that this company wanted me to work on a project in minneapolis and since I have a house here and my wife is employed here, we were not ready to move. The LC does say "might have to travel temporaryly to clients sites around the country"

Well I am also in same situation but I do not think we have to worry about it. As 180 days have passed, one can change the intent. Generally no one should ask the question why you did not join on EAD.

If still someone asks that, the answeer is clear that we do not want to use EAD for reasons of not getting out of status if the 485 gets denied (For those who used EAD, this is not valid)

Getting better opportunity after 180 days is good enough a reason to change the intent and Yates memo clearly says that one may not have to work at all for the sponsoring employer for using AC21.

I do not think we should give family related reasons as they look more fishy. If I have to answer I would rather use Better opportunity after 180 days as that looks more professional and reasonable to me.
