Hello Friends,

I have received a job offer from a USA employer. 1st USA employer was applying through a Law firm. Now employer has gotten the TN support letter prepared and sent it to me via mail.

So I will have to submit a TN application at any airport in Canada to get approval for TN Status. There are the following questions:

1) What are the names of the airport for US clearance of TN status in Canada?
2) Which is the best one to get a high chance of approval?
3) Is there any specific timing and days for US preclearance at Canadian airport? Are they opened on Saturdays and Sundays and evening timing?
4) How many hours of layover should I book a ticket for processing TN status in the airport?
5) Should I fill out an application form at the airport etc with other documents? If yes which one?
6) Should I show /submit my detailed Resume, my signed offer letter ( got a digital copy via email, printed off and signed on it), the latest pic, and my Citizenship certificate with the TN application plus other documents to Visa Officer at Airport?
7) Can I go to the airport to get the approval for TN status 5 days after the joining date ( mentioned in the TN Support letter but not in the Offer letter)?
8) Can I get TN visa approval at any Canadian airport without entering the USA? After approval then I will enter the USA after a week.
9) If the company benefits wording is written like Standard benefits offered to employees of (Name of company: XYZ) as indicated in XYZ’s Employee Handbook over the course of his temporary employment for three years with our company. Does it work or will it create an issue?

Please answer the above questions so that I could make the perfect plan to get my TN status.

Let me give a try here

1) Google it, most of the major airports like Toronto, Vancouver etc., should be good

2) As long as you have good documentation and support letter and eligibility for the applied TN classification, the chances are equally good at any border crossing/airport

3) Airports should be opened on Sat and Sunday's too, give them a call and see if they have any specific timings on weekends to process TNs

4) Common sense. May be 3-4 hours incase the TN processing takes more time

5) Not sure on this, from my experience at the land border, there is no form filling business, just provide the documentation you carry to the officer, they will do the process, should be the same case at the airports too, double check when you call the airport

6) The most important documents you need is TN Support Letter, and documentation showing your education/credentials (evaluated to North American equivalency) and if you are applying for a category that has experience requirements, have the experience letters handy.

7) At the airports, I guess once you enter US officers, you may not be able to go back if approved. At the land border, I did once got approved, came back to Canada and returned to US later. They may not like you getting TN and immediately driving back.

8) Its the US officers issue the TN, so you may not be able to get TN just entering into airport and walking back with approval

9) Should be Ok, from my experience, they didn't ask any questions on the benefits etc., All my TNs, I got at the US/Canada land borders.

For some of your questions, there are lot of reference topics posted by members available within this forum, search with relevant topic, you may get answers to most of your questions.

Just to correct of clarify:

3. US immigration will be open anytime there is an outbound US flight.

5. there is no border/airport TN form.

6. Resume is useless. If experience is a TN requirement, due to lack of degree, letter are the only acceptable
documentation.

7. See 8. The start date is not critical.

8. you CANNOT get TN without boarding a US-bound flight.
