Montreal interview Timeline?

Hello all,

I received this by e-mail after requesting to know whether or not all our DS-230 documentation and forms had arrived at the NVC.

"All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's
processing has been received.

As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the designated
representative of this case (applicant, petitioner, or attorney) will be
notified. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional
documentation at the time of the interview."

Our interview will be in Montreal.

Does anyone have any idea how soon we are likely to hear about an interview date? In 10 days I have to tell my employer whether or not I will be staying on to teach in the fall semester at the university. I don't want to stay on if I don't have to.

Also, because I am entering the US on a K-3 visa, I know it will be quite a while before I get a green card. However, at the university where my husband works, there are frequently opportunities for lecturing work - just a class here or there - and I'd like to be able to be eligible for applying for that ASAP. Is there any way I can get permission to apply for work before I get a green card? The university won't want anything to do with helping me get permission to work there, or offering me an actual position, I'm sure (cheapskates) but if I am eligible on my own I think I could get hired.

Any help would be appreciated. We've tried so hard to do everything right and I still find my head swimming with all the details.

Going through some of the threads on other forums, it appears as though now a days, Montreal is notoriously slow at giving out interview dates. Some people have waited 5 months, while others have waited 1 month. So it's really hard to judge just how long you would need to wait.

As the K3 is not work authorised, then you'll need to apply for an EAD to be legally able to work. You can file for this free of charge along with your greencard paper work. They estimate around 90 days for the EAD to be approved, though mine took just under 60. Once you have this in hand, you are free to work. When you get your GC after this, you will no longer need the EAD.
