Hi everyone! I need you honest advice on a green card subject. I have a newborn daughter and my mother was kind of enough to move to US to take care of her when i am at work. I am a US citizen. My original plans were to apply for GC for her during her stay here under tourist visa. But I've been reading that after obtaining the GC, you need to stay in US for at least 180 days every year or otherwise you may need a re-entry permit, etc... She will take care of our baby this year and maybe next year, as well, but then she will need to go back to our home country. Sure, she will be visiting us once or twice a year but not for a 180 days stay.

What shall we do? Shall we apply for GC or should she just leave and come back every 6 months before her legal stay allowance expires?

Thank you...

Well, she could always get the green card and then abandon it later when she no longer wants to live here. At least it will allow her to to stay here continuously in the near future.

But her tourist visa will be cancelled out once she gets the green card. Can she get another non-immigrant B1-B2 visa again?
