mode of proof?

Can anyone tell me what are the things I need to prove my continuing ties with the USA in the case where I have a break in stay in the USA for more than 6 months? I travelled out of the country for a period of 8 months and understand that to file for citizenship, I cannot stay away for more than 6 months, but have been told that I can hope to pursue my case if I can prove my continuing ties with US during the period I was away. Please let me know how to do this? what are the documents I need to do this? please help, thanks for all the answers I have recieved so far, I appreciate it so much and apologise that I have been vague in my previious questions as this is my first time here.
 
Proof includes but is not limited to rental/mortgage payments, US bank accounts, US tax receipts, and in your case proof that studies overseas was temporary.
