misspelt name on AP

I desparately need some advice..I applied for AOS and AP for my son and due to clerical oversight at attorney's office, both the applications went with wrong spelling for his surname..we noticed it we received his AP with the wrong name...

does anybody know how to fix this..do we have to reapply for his AOS after withdrawing old applicaiton? or can we just get this corrected by paying the fee again..my own attorney doesn't seem to know what needs to done..

I don't know whether there are any attorneys who review the postings, but if there are, I would cerftainly appreciate some advice..

Name Correction - My adice is call the 1800 number , u will know morea about your options, but as I see it the way it is done is

File for I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, mention the correct name in it and pay 140 bucks, u shd have a new AP within 30 days

But first call the 1800 number...and man yr attorney stinks, don't tell me that he didn't give u this advice!! :D

I already called the 1800 number yesterday and they took the new details over the phone for the pending I485 applicaiton. For the approved AP, they suggested that I go down to the local INS office in San Jose which I did today.

The officer was at the local office was very courteous and said that I had to fax the details to CSC (he gave me some fax numbers)..

My attorney (actually company's) has been trying to fix this for the last three months and I am meeting him today to see what needs to be done next..(as an aside, I had asked them to correct it at the time of application and they forgot)
