Missing Practical Training Card

My brother-in-law is applying for I-485. He has everything (H1s ) but the Practical Training Card (used for one year before his first H1). He can not find the card or its copy after 7 long years. All he remembers is the date when he got practical training card. Does INS really look for practical training card?? Does anybody know or have experience on how to deal with such situation?

Not a serious issue

Since it is so long ago, nothing can be done to trace it too (unless the lawyer retains everything). So let this not stop the application from going to INS.
If the dates are accurate there will not be any RFE. But if there were some potential out of status issues or IRS filings issues during that period, that card need to be traced.
How about the employer who accepted the EAD card ? All you need is the Alien #, receipt number, validity dates...
