Hi,

My (second in GC histrory ) FP code 3 notice was mailed to me on 7/5, returned back by the apartment tenant (where i lived). It went back ti USCIS and mailed back again to my new address.

On the FP notice, the appt date was 7/25, but its long gone.

I got the mail today - what can i do?

1. Call National service center to reschedule?
2. Walk in to Info pass for me and spouse?
3. Call local ASC and request a new date?
4......ANY OTHER SOLUTION?
5. WHY CODE 3 again....???

(when i changed apartment, and updated my address online, it is supposed to be effective, but the crap system is still mailing to the old address they have on file)

1. Call National service center to reschedule?

As a last resort, maybe. Read on.

2. Walk in to Info pass for me and spouse?

This is the preferred thing to do. It should typically work.

Doesn't your FP notice say that if you miss the appointment time, you can walk in on any Monday (or Tues, or any one day of the week) for the next X weeks, but no later than xx/yy/zz? USCIS waits for 120 days (or is it 90?) to get your FPs. In your case, you have plenty of time. Get an Infopass appointment asap.

5. WHY CODE 3 again....???

They want your up-to-date photograph to put on your GC, that's why the Code 3.

It appears to be the case for many people here: the service center sends the notice first to the address that was on the application. If it returns as undeliverable, THEN they go look into their records to see if there was a change of address. Frustratingly stupid system, guaranteed to waste so much time as to cause a few people to miss the boat.

Good luck with your FPs, and keep us posted.

marooned42, LUDs on 8/10, 8/12, 8/13... keep your fingers crossed! All the best!

Infopass experience at San Francisco

My I-485 is pending at Texas service center and I have not received 2nd FP notice(first FP was in Dec 2004). Called TSC several times using POJ method and they tell different stories like case is with officer, no visa number available, background check complete etc. It was waiting for Visa number as of Jan 2005. Yesterday I called and it is again waiting for visa number.

Finally I took infopass appointment today and went to SF. Unfortunately, I got a old B****. She was looking out of her specs(crookedly) as I approached the counter. She refused to even enter my receipt number in the system. She said this case is in Texas and she has no authority..she can't give any info..blah..blah..she was not allowing me to talk..she kept on saying " Sir you listen to me..I don't care..you call your lawyer..you talk to your employer." etc.. So I asked her what authority she has? Why give an infopass appointment and waste my day besides the money.

That B was mentioning I have no right in that office. It is a benefit and no right. She doesn't know that we have right to the information on our case as they are servicing us for the benefit provided by US govt. I got pissed off and asked for her superviosr. That B said I can't talk to him which proves that she was lying about my case and she has no intent to help.

It is so frustrating that these bastards screw up and are not ready to help when we approach regarding their mistakes.
